Collection, processing and use of personal data
The legal basis for the collection, storage and processing of personal data can be found in particular in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Personal data is information that refers to an identified or identifiable natural person (Art. 4 Section 1 GDPR). This includes in particular names, address data, telephone numbers or email addresses. However, information about preferences, memberships or previously visited websites, for example, can also represent personal data.
Contacting us
If you contact us (e.g. by email or via our contact form), the data provided by you will be stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and for possible processing of follow-up questions. The legal basis for processing is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR. We delete the data collected in this context after the storage is no longer necessary, or limit the processing if statutory retention obligations exist.
Your rights
You have the following rights towards us with regard to personal data concerning you:
- the right to information,
- the right to correction or deletion,
- the right to limitation of processing,
- the right to object to the processing,
- the right to data transferability.
To ensure that personal data is not disclosed to third parties, please send your request in writing to KARE Design GmbH, Zeppelinstr. 16, 85748 Garching, Germany, clearly identifying yourself.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about our processing of your personal data.
Revocation of consent and objection to the processing of your data
We would like to point out that you can revoke any consent you may have given to the processing of your data at any time. However, your revocation has no influence on data processing that has already taken place, and is effective exclusively for the future.
If we base the processing of your personal data on a balancing of interests within the meaning of Art. 6 Section 1 f) GDPR, you may object to the processing. A balancing of interests is carried out in particular if the processing is not necessary for the fulfilment of a contract with you. The legal basis of the respective processing can be found in this privacy policy. If such an objection is made, we will ask you to explain the reasons for this. In the event of a justified objection, we will examine the situation and either stop or adapt the data processing or point out to you the compelling reasons worthy of protection, on the basis of which we need to continue the processing.
Furthermore, you can object to the processing of your personal data for purposes of advertising and data analysis at any time. You can inform us about your objection to advertising under the contact data mentioned above.
B2B login
As a retailer you have the possibility to create a B2B customer account via our B2B login. This gives you access to the KARE B2B website and allows you to order our products at trade conditions. You can also view and track orders and other processes online in the B2B area. The data requested in the input mask is required for registration. In addition to general company data, this also includes personal data such as the name of a contact person and his/her contact data. We store and process this data exclusively for the purpose of providing the B2B login and for carrying out contractual and pre-contractual obligations. The legal basis is Art. 6 Section 1 b) GDPR. You can delete your B2B login by requesting us to delete it using the contact details provided. Any personal data no longer required will then be deleted by us. Insofar as commercial or tax storage obligations exist, the necessary data will be stored for a period of ten years. Data processing is limited to the extent that only the data which is necessary for the fulfilment of our legal obligations will remain stored.
Server log files
Every time you visit our website, information is stored in a log file by our hosting provider. These so-called “log files” contain information about retrieved files, status codes, time stamps and system information. The data is not personal and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the specific person. In addition, IP addresses are also stored in log files. For us, these cannot be assigned to a specific person without further information.
If you wish to view our website, we collect the above data, which is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and to ensure stability and security. The legal basis for processing is the necessity to protect our legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6 Section 1 f) GDPR.

Web analysis tools
Google (Universal) Analytics
Our website uses Google (Universal) Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (www.google.de). Google (Universal) Analytics uses methods that enable an analysis of your use of the website, such as “cookies”, text files that are stored on your computer. The information generated about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. By activating IP anonymisation on this website, the IP address is truncated prior to transmission within the Member States of the European Union or in other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The anonymous IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
We use Google Analytics to analyse and regularly improve the use of our website. This enables us to improve our service and make it more interesting for you as a user. For the exceptional cases in which personal data is transferred to the USA, Google has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield, privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework.
You can prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
As an alternative to the browser plugin, you can click on this link to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data on this website in the future. An opt-out cookie is stored on your mobile device. If you delete your cookies, you need to click on the link again.
The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 Section 1 f) GDPR, in particular our interest in the statistical evaluation of the usage behaviour of our website users to optimise our service.
Integration of Google Maps
Maps provided by Google Maps are integrated on our website. The purpose of this is to make our website more attractive and to make it easier for our customers to find our branches. The legal basis is Art. 6 Section 1 f) GDPR.
When you visit our website, Google receives the information that you have called up the corresponding page of our website. In addition, further data such as your IP address is transmitted to Google. This happens regardless of whether you’re logged into a Google account or if you don’t have a user account. If you are logged in to Google, your information will be directly associated with your account. If you do not wish to be associated with your profile on Google, you should log out before visiting our website. Google stores your data as usage profiles and uses these for purposes of advertising, market research and/or demand-oriented design of its website. Such evaluation takes place in particular (even for users who are not logged-in) to provide demand-oriented advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, but you need to contact Google to exercise this right.
For more information on the purpose and scope of the data collection and processing by Google, please refer to Google’s privacy policy. There you will also find further information about your rights in this regard and setting options for the protection of your privacy: google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.
Google also processes your personal data in the USA and has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield, privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework.
Integration of YouTube videos
We have integrated YouTube videos in our website, which are stored on youtube.com and can be played directly from our website. These are integrated in the “extended data protection mode”, i.e. no data about you as a user will be transmitted to YouTube if you do not play the videos. Only when you play the videos will the data mentioned in the next paragraph be transferred. We have no influence on this data transmission.
When you visit our website, YouTube receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. This is independent of whether YouTube provides a user account through which you are logged in or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to YouTube, your information will be directly associated with your account. If you do not wish to be associated with your profile on YouTube, you need to log out before activating the button. YouTube stores your data as user profiles and uses these for purposes of advertising, market research and/or demand-oriented design of its website. You have the the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, but you must contact YouTube to exercise this right.
For more information on the purpose and scope of the data protection collection and its processing by YouTube, please refer to the privacy policy under this link: policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Web Fonts
For the uniform representation of fonts we use Google Web Fonts on our website. The required web fonts are loaded from your browser when you access the website server to display the texts and fonts correctly. Your browser connects to Google’s servers, which tells Google that a device with your IP address is visiting our website. The use of Google Web Fonts and the associated data processing serves our interest in the user-friendly presentation of our website. The legal basis is Art. 6 Section 1 f) GDPR.
If your browser does not support the display of web fonts, a standard font is used instead.
